Naked Asses: Engineer a solution to this dam problem

We want you to build a prototype that improves the reliability of hydropower facilities in the United States by automating the testing of the existing protection system.

The Automated Maintenance of Protection Systems (AMPS) Challenge is a partnership between Freelancer.com and Arrow Electronics, and is sponsored by the Bureau of Reclamation, the largest wholesale water supplier in the U.S. It has a total prize pool of $250,000 and is open to anyone eligible to participate.

Join phase 1 of the AMPS Challenge and submit your white paper solution. Phase 1 winners will get up to $10,000 and will automatically enter phase 2 and build a prototype for the chance to win up to another $100,000.

Entering the contest will give you the opportunity to:

• Win your share of the $250,000 prize pool.

• Work with the Bureau of Reclamation and their partners.

• Improve your portfolio on Freelancer.com.

• Commercialize your solution nationally or globally, regardless of contest outcome.

• Potentially get a Cooperative Research and Development or other technology-transfer agreement with the Bureau of Reclamation, to further refine your solution.

• Potentially receive support from Arrow Electronics' local field engineering teams to help you build the prototype, with components sourced through Arrow at the lowest available pricing.

• Potentially present your prototype to the Bureau of Reclamation and its partners at a testing facility in the Denver Area.
